Get CoolSculpting® Done in 35 Minutes

Your Secret is Safe with us at Calgary’s First Certified CoolSculpting® Centre

Have you often wished there was some nonsurgical way to reduce those stubborn fat deposits that you just can’t get rid of? You know the ones — the belly, the love handles, the back fat pads — that don’t seem to get any smaller, no matter how much you diet and exercise. Now that option exists: CoolSculpting® is available in Calgary at Glenmore Healthcare! (in fact, we were the first Certified Practice in Alberta, so we have been doing this a long time!) CoolSculpting® is a technique that cools fat deposits down to the point that the fat cells die and the fat is naturally removed by the body. The advantages of having one of Glenmore Healthcare’s CoolSculpting® Certified Nurses perform the procedure include:

  • Average fat reduction of 20-25% for good candidates
  • No surgery or incisions
  • No anesthesia necessary
  • No down-time
  • No scarring
  • Treatments can be done in as little as 35 minutes per area!

CoolSculpting® is not for everyone, but good candidates are people with visible fat bulges. They  see the best results, with an average fat reduction of 20-25% in treated areas. For those who are not ideal candidates for CoolSculpting, we have other options for you including medically supervised diet programs and other fat elimination procedures.

CoolSculpting® is a non-invasive technique that cools down fat deposits up to a temperature at which they freeze off and die. This naturally removes fat from the body. It has been approved by the FDA and employs the use of patented technology to reduce fat by destroying the cells. The results of the treatment are visibly noticeable and last for a long time.

Since this is a medical treatment, all procedures are done by Licensed, Certified CoolSculpting® Nurses. Unlike other centres, we don’t cut costs by having unlicensed healthcare providers perform these treatments. Always ask if a nurse will be performing the procedure, and support Alberta licensed nurses!

What is CoolSculpting®?

CoolSculpting® or scientifically known as Cryolipolysis involves the freezing of fat cells to the point of killing them. The procedure is performed using an applicator which is similar to a giant vacuum suction hose. This is applied to the target area and creates suction after which the carefully controlled cooling plates bring the temperature of the fat cells down. The cells are irreversibly damaged by the very low temperature.

After the fat cells are damaged by deep freezing them, they eventually die and are naturally flushed out of the system. Results start to become evident around 4-6 weeks. The complete results of the procedure may take up to three months to show following the treatment.

How Does CoolSculpting® Work?

The CoolSculpting® machine utilizes an applicator that is placed on the bulge that is to be treated. The applicator pulls the fat bulge between its panels, and then precisely cools the tissue. The goal is Cryolipolysis: the destruction of fat cells with cold. Scientific studies have shown that fat cells are more susceptible to destruction by cold than the other cells around them. To take advantage of this, the Coolsculpting device is designed to reduce the temperature in the fat bulge to the point that fat tissues are subtly damaged, but the rest of your tissues, including your skin, blood vessels, and nerves, are not affected. It truly does freeze your fat away! A person’s number of fat cells and their location is fixed and doesn’t change from early in life. Once fat cells are killed, they never come back, so when a bulge is treated, whether by liposuction or by Coolsculpting®, the results are truly permanent.

The procedure doesn’t take very long, about 1 hour per area being treated. Then you go about your normal business, you don’t have to change your routine at all. Over the next couple of months, the dead fat cells in the treated area are removed by the body’s normal processes. According to clinical studies, most patients saw some level of results, and, on average, patients saw a reduction of 22% in treated areas. Visit this page for more information on how the CoolSculpting® works.

What are the Areas of Treatment?

The body sculpting process can only begin after recommendation from the clinic. The healthcare professional will analyze the patient’s profile and medical history to specify the treatment areas and number of treatments required.

Every patient has a different body and only a certified clinician can tailor a plan that best fits your requirements. It only takes one consultation visit to the office to outline your goals and identify the problem areas. There are different applicators that come with the CoolSculpting® machine and each is used for a specific treatment plan that can produce the desired results.

For some patients the CoolSculpting® plan is customized and they may require treatment with different applicators. For example if you want to get rid of fat from the inner thigh area and also the muffin top then you need treatment with multiple applicators. There are also CoolSculpting® machines that can target different areas of the body simultaneously.

Generally CoolSculpting® is used to treat the following areas:

  • Belly
  • Upper and lower back
  • Love handles
  • Male breasts
  • Arms
  • Inner Thighs
  • Outer Thighs
  • Chin

Why Choose CoolSculpting®?

When choosing a treatment for fat reduction it is important to consider a number of factors. Pain sensitivity is one and if you are someone who has a very low threshold for pain then you should go for CoolSculpting®. The procedure involves a cooling action coupled with a numbing effect which is only slightly uncomfortable.

The second thing to consider is the amount of fat you want to reduce. If the patient has more fat, then they should choose CoolSculpting® rather than SculpSure or similar options. The applicator in CoolSculpting® requires a solid amount of fat to be able to latch on. Another reason CoolSculpting® is preferred is because there is no downtime and little to no risks that come with the procedure.

A 2014 clinical trial, the results of which were published in Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology showed very promising outcomes. The subcutaneous fat was reduced in the treatment area by up to 25 percent. Since then more than 5,000 patients have participated in successful CoolSculpting® clinical trials and 7,000,000 number of treatments have been performed worldwide.

CoolSculpting® has the highest rate of patient satisfaction amongst all other noninvasive body-contouring treatments. The trademark equipment has also won the New Beauty Award for Best Overall Fat Fighter for three years running. Even though the technology is fairly new it has impressed the medical and aesthetic community.

The results from this treatment are permanent in theory. When people lose weight through gym and exercise their fat cells shrink but they expand again after weight gain. This means the number of fat cells remains unchanged. With CoolSculpting® the fat cells are gone for good resulting in a lasting effect.

There have been over 7 million CoolSculpting® procedures performed. Glenmore Healthcare is the leading weight loss and body shaping clinic in Calgary, and was the first CoolSculpting® Certified Practice in Alberta. Since 2010 CoolSculpting® has been FDA-cleared as safe for use in reducing fat deposits. However, the system was approved over a year earlier for cooling skin and other tissues to reduce damage and discomfort during laser and other dermatologic procedures. The CoolSculpting® system is based on technology that has been FDA-approved and in use since at least 1990, and a number of studies have been conducted to ensure that the procedure:

  • Does not harm the skin in treated area
  • Does not harm the nerves in treated area
  • Does not change the structure or sensitivity of nerves in treated area
  • Does not raise the level of cholesterol and fat in the blood

As well, a patient avoids any of the potential complications of surgery, with no downtime, no scars, and visible results.

What Results Should  You Expect from CoolSculpting®?

For a few days after the treatment there is slight soreness similar to that experienced after exercise in the treated areas. One week after the treatment the skin in that region will start to feel itchy. The CoolSculpting® procedure takes anywhere between 35 minutes and one hour but you can carry on with your routine afterwards as there is no downtime. People see visible results i.e. a reduction in fat in that area and an overall slimmer appearance at least a month after the treatment.

After the first session, the treated area will appear to be smoother and toned which continues to improve over the course of six months. The majority of the frozen fat cells will naturally leave the body within two months of the procedure and in some cases, it can happen as early as four weeks.

It is common knowledge that the results of cosmetic fat loss treatments such as liposuction are instant. While non-invasive procedures are generally quick and take not more than an hour, the results are slower to be evident and take a few weeks before appearing. The full effect, however, is only visible after 3 to 4 months and it is likely that multiple sessions will be required to achieve the goal.

A single session of CoolSculpting® takes up to one hour to treat each area as it works in small hand-sized portions at a time. Each love handle is considered a separate area and the lower abdomen is often broken down into two to three regions. Therefore, it is possible to have more than one area treated in a single clinic visit. However, it should be noted that more areas to be treated will make the procedural time longer.

Since the process can only eliminate up to 20% of the fat in a single sitting it will take some time for heavier patients to achieve their desired body shape. The fat cells are frozen and destroyed slowly so you should patiently wait for the results to manifest themselves. It is possible to schedule secondary sessions as early as 8 weeks after your treatment. One thing to be mentioned here is that the timelines of the results are different for each patient.

Get Our Exclusive CoolSculpting® Treatment Program

For the very best results, a combination of CoolSculpting® treatments with lipotropic MIC injection as well as Cellutone® vibration treatment is recommended.

Only Glenmore Healthcare offers these two options as part of our Coolsculpting® Packages (both administered by certified nurses):

  1. Fat Blasting” lipotropic MIC injections.
  2. Accelerated “Fat Breakdown” with Cellutone® vibration treatment in combination with a manual massage.

CoolSculpting® clinical trials show a 25% average reduction in fat cells by damaging them during the treatment. Once the treatment is done, we combine a manual massage with a mechanical vibration treatment (Cellutone®) to the treated area. This allows for enhanced microcirculation and oxygen supply to the affected area, resulting in increased blood supply and removal of excess interstitial fluid. Removing this interstitial fluid helps you see your CoolSculpting® results faster than without this extra procedure. Who doesn’t want to see their results quicker?! Research has shown, lipotropic MIC injections (which can only be administered by a nurse or physician) help the liver process damaged fat cells that are circulating in your bloodstream. This combination treatment is ONLY AVAILABLE AT GLENMORE HEALTHCARE where nurses perform all CoolSculpting® and injection treatments.

Should a Nurse do the CoolSculpting procedure?

Absolutely! Why wouldn’t you want a licensed nurse with advanced training to do your procedure?!

We want to make sure you get the best experience and treatment possible, so we only allow licensed nurses to do our CoolSculpting® procedures.

Nurses have advanced healthcare training, always ask if a nurse is performing the procedure. We don’t cut costs by allowing non-nurses to perform medical procedures, ensuring you have the safest Coolsculpting® experience.

At Glenmore Healthcare only qualified nurses perform all CoolSculpting® and injection treatments.

What are the Benefits of CoolSculpting®?

One of the major benefits of CoolSculpting® is that the fat cells are destroyed forever and absorbed by the body. This means they do not return or multiply as the patient gains weight. There are several other benefits CoolSculpting® has over other methods of fat loss:

  • There is no down-time so patient does not need to take time off from work
  • The results of the treatment are natural and continue to develop as weeks pass following the session
  • It is also recommended to those who have achieved their target weight or have a normal BMI but need to get rid of stubborn fat in certain areas
  • There is no risk of weight gain and the results last for a long time because the fat cells are permanently destroyed and eliminated from the body
  • There is no risk of skin dimpling because the fat cells are destroyed evenly across the treatment area
  • The skin barrier is not broken therefore the risk of complications like scarring and infection is reduced.
  • No anesthesia or medications are required
  • There are very few adverse reactions reported with this treatment and no allergic reactions
  • Complications and side-effect severity are lower than those associated with invasive procedures like liposuction

The procedure helps in achieving a slimmer and well-toned body and boosts the self-confidence of the patient. Best results are achieved when the treatment is coupled with weight loss through a healthy diet plan and regular exercise.

What is the CoolSculpting® treatment?

Who is an ideal candidate for CoolSculpting®?

In our experience, the ideal individual for this procedure is within 10-25 pounds of their goal body weight. Anyone who has “pinchable” fat is a candidate for CoolSculpting®, to see if you are a candidate, just try and “pinch an inch” of fat anywhere you’d like it to disappear (belly, love handles (flanks), upper or lower back, thighs, arms, banana roll, male chest), if you can, you are most likely a candidate for CoolSculpting®! To be sure, please call us at 403-452-5699 and come in for a free consultation. When treating “non-pinchable” fat, we would typically use the Vanquish® device to eliminate the fat. Instead of using “cold” to kill the fat cells, we use “heat” to kill them.  We find this procedure gives our patients better results.

Is CoolSculpting® Safe?

Yes, in fact there have been over 1.5 million CoolSculpting® procedures performed. Glenmore Healthcare is the leading weight loss, body shaping clinic in Calgary, and was the first CoolSculpting® Certified Practice in Alberta.

And of course you avoid any of the potential complications of surgery, plus you have no downtime, no scars, and you see visible results.

What to Expect During CoolSculpting® Treatment?

After the patient schedules an appointment at the clinic, they meet the healthcare professional for a consultation session. The person conducting the session could be a doctor or a healthcare professional specialized in the CoolSculpting® procedure. The clinician takes the time to holistically discuss the details of the approach being used to reshape the patient’s body. The body is analyzed from a number of angles and then specific areas are focused on to figure out how to eliminate the fat.

Before the procedure begins, the patient is weighed, and photographs of the treatment areas are taken for medical evidence. Since the fat is supposed to reduce in the weeks following the treatment the photos are used as a base-line that the healthcare professional refers to for comparison during follow-up session and post-treatment. It is easy for the brain to forget something it does not see every day and seeing a side-by-side comparison helps notice the visible changes. The treatment plan is mapped out on the ‘Before’ photographs to identify the area to be treated. The healthcare professional identifies where they are going to be placing the cooling device to contour the body.

During the treatment a gel pad and applicator is placed on the treatment area. The applicator controls the cooling effect and brings the fat down to a low temperature. Patients are free to read, use their phones or even take a nap while the procedure is being performed.

What is Involved in a CoolSculpting® Treatment?

A consultation is the first step for a CoolSculpting® treatment process. The consultation will be in a private room with a Certified CoolSculpting® clinician in which the patient is provided all the information about the CoolSculpting® treatment. During the consultation, CoolSculpting® “before and after photos” of our other patients will be shown and then it will be discussed if the patient is a good candidate. Next the clinician will work on the best treatment plan based on budget, schedule and ultimate goals.

What are the Side Effects of CoolSculpting®?

Side-effects vary with each case but slight discomfort post-treatment is fairly common. Patients also experience redness, swelling and numbness in the treated area but disappear naturally after some time. The likelihood of experiencing this side effect increases if the treatment area is large. However, this is also an indication of favorable results and the effects are only temporary. They last anywhere from a few days up to 4 weeks day at most and they are very mild, so you can go about your activities.

How long does CoolSculpting® take?

It really depends on how many areas (upper/lower abdomen, love handles, thighs, upper/lower back, male chest) you want treated.  If you exercise regularly and only have one problem area, then you’ll most likely only need a one 35 minute CoolSculpting® treatment. Larger areas take one hour to treat.  If you would like to have both flanks (love handles) and your lower abdomen sculpted, you will require 4 areas to be treated. The number of treatments is based on each person’s unique body shape and can be done in single day.

Can you treat Cellulite with CoolSculpting®?

CoolSculpting® is not FDA-approved to treat cellulite.  If you are concerned about cellulite, Glenmore Healthcare is the first weight-loss clinic in Calgary to offer the Exilis treatment, which is FDA approved for this purpose.  For more information and some before & after photos of cellulite treatments, please visit our “treating cellulite” webpage.

Is it Painful to Freeze the Fat?

It really depends on your pain tolerance, the vast majority of patients feel no pain during the fat freeze. The cryolipolysis sensation is similar to you placing a vacuum over your skin. You will feel some minor pulling, but within minutes that will go away as the cooling takes over. After the treatment is over, there is some discomfort when the skin goes back to room temperature, but you will be ready to go about your day within 20 minutes of the procedure!

Is CoolSculpting® an alternative to Liposuction?

CoolSculpting® is really very different than liposuction. CoolSculpting® is not meant for obese or morbidly obese individuals. If you are more than 30lbs overweight, a physician directed weight loss program is your first step. CoolSculpting® is for eliminating problem fat areas, not for weight loss. If you are obese or morbidly obese, liposuction is a very effective method of fat reduction because the fat is physically removed from the body. Some of the drawbacks to liposuction are that it is a very invasive procedure, which typically involves the loss of more blood than fat, requires anesthesia, surgical incisions which usually result in permanent scars, and several months of recovery time is not uncommon. As an alternative to liposuction, Freezing the Fat with CoolSculpting® does not have any of these drawbacks and is why patients in the Calgary area may find Glenmore Healthcare the ideal place to have this procedure performed.

Is CoolSculpting® Really Permanent?

Yes, once the fat cells are destroyed they cannot grow back. If you want to maintain your new body shape, it’s important that you continue to eat a healthy diet and exercise regularly. In the event that you do gain weight in the future, the treated areas will continue to show permanent results, and often the weight will reappear in different areas. Please keep in mind that research has shown that with weight gain, as fat cells grow they can sometime split, resulting in new fat cells being created, however this would happen with or without CoolSculpting® and the end result will still be fewer fat cells in the treated areas.

Can I have more than one CoolSculpting® treatment in the same area?

Absolutely, you can expect to see 20-25% of the remaining fat to be lost with each treatment.  The secondary treatment can be started in as little as 4 weeks, although we recommend waiting at least 6-8 weeks in order for the initial results to be more visible.  Since each body is unique, this allows us to best target the remaining fat.

How much downtime can I expect for a

CoolSculpting® Treatment?

Most people do not experience any downtime. The typical CoolSculpting® patient is able to resume normal routine immediately after treatment.

How will my skin be affected by Fat Freezing with CoolSculpting®?

Since CoolSculpting® is a non-invasive procedure and it takes time for the body to remove the dead fat cells, the final results don’t appear until between three and ten weeks post treatment.  It’s normal for the skin to naturally contract in areas where fat is lost. In some cases, you may experience excess skin droopiness or elasticity in treated areas, in which case skin tightening procedures may be appropriate. Glenmore Healthcare is the first weight loss clinic in Calgary to offer several different treatments such as Radio Frequency skin tightening in these situations.

How much does CoolSculpting® Cost?

Great question! The CoolSculpting fat freezing procedure starts at $800, with the price greatly reduced the more areas you treat. Give the clinic a call today to see if we have any CoolSculpting special deals!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I immediately go back to my normal routine after the procedure?
Yes, you can. The treatment is completely non-invasive so patients typically resume their normal daily routine as soon as they leave the clinic. Some patients may experience minor bruising, redness, numbness, tingling and discomfort in the area of treatment but it is only temporary and completely resolves itself after some time. Often the patients go back to their jobs after completing the session.
Will I need to exercise, follow a strict diet plan or take any supplements for the CoolSculpting® treatment to work?
No pills or supplements are required for CoolSculpting® to work. You do not need to adopt any lifestyle changes or alter your diet after the treatment either. However, patients themselves feel motivated on their own to take care of themselves after they get the procedure performed.
Can a nurse perform the CoolSculpting® treatment?
It is not mandatory for a nurse to be involved in the CoolSculpting® procedure. No injections have to be administered, nor is anesthesia required so the treatment is not necessarily performed by a nurse. If there is any cause for concern, then the healthcare professional personally reviews the treatment plan before they proceed. If not a nurse, then a highly experienced and properly trained and certified CoolSculpting® technician is available. These technicians are specialized in medical aesthetics and know the standard operating procedures of the equipment. They make sure the patients are looked after and feel comfortable throughout the procedure.
Why are there conflicting reports on the time it takes to complete the CoolSculpting® treatment?
The previous models of CoolSculpting® devices only take 60 to 75 minutes to complete one cycle however, the new versions are now updated and complete the treatment in the shorter time span on 35 to 45 minutes. The upgrades in the system have made CoolSculpting® a more comfortable procedure during and post-treatment.
What should I expect to happen during the treatment?
You will first select the problem areas with consultation from the clinician. The healthcare professional will then place the device on that part of your body. The applicator draws the bulge in between its cooling panels. You will feel a firm pull and pressure on that area. The selected tissue is then cooled down efficiently and depending on the size of the area the treatment is completed in less than an hour.
Is CoolSculpting® a safe procedure?
The procedure is completely safe and there are only a few health issues that would prevent someone from getting the treatment. CoolSculpting® has been approved by the FDA and Health Canada. More than 5 million procedures have been performed all over the world and it has proved itself as a safe and effective treatment for fat reduction.
What happens to the fat?
Once the area is treated the fat cells present are crystallized and then they die off. The body eliminates them through the natural process.
What results should I expect?
Each session of CoolSculpting® results in a noticeable reduction of fat in the area of treatment. After the first treatment you can improve the appearance by scheduling additional sessions which will help reduce even more fat. Some patients find a single treatment satisfactory and do not feel the need to return for more treatments. The healthcare professional can help customize a plan that suits your body type and helps achieve the goals.
What does it feel like to have CoolSculpting® performed?
CoolSculpting® is not a painful procedure. It can be startling or slightly uncomfortable because the fat is drawn in between the plates but the new cooling devices provide a very gentle suction to the fat. It will feel a little cool for a duration of 5 to 10 minutes. Patients report the two-minute massage performed after the treatment is uncomfortable, but it is tolerated because it is over very quickly.

How soon can I expect to see results?
You will start seeing a change within 3 to 4 weeks after the treatment. The dramatic results are only visible three months after the procedure. The body continues to clear out fat up to six months after CoolSculpting® has been performed.
How many areas can be treated at the same time?
It is possible to treat at most two areas at a time with the CoolSculpting® machines. Even with more than two machines it is not possible for a patient to be treated in more than two different areas simultaneously even if they are very flexible.
Will Lipotrophic Fat Injections and Cellutone treatments help achieve better results with CoolSculpting®?
For the very best results, a combination of CoolSculpting®® treatments with a “fat blasting” injection as well as Cellutone® is recommended. By adding the Cellutone® post-CoolSculpting® treatment, you will have an opportunity to kill even more fat cells!
Why does the clinician perform a massage after the CoolSculpting® procedure?
During the procedure the tissue is frozen and bringing it back up to room temperature may cause a lot of damage. This is exactly why people affected by hypothermia are “thawed out” steadily. With CoolSculpting® the objective is to cause further damage which is why the tissue is brought back to room temperature quickly. The two-minute massage after the treatment restores the crystallized fat tissue back to room temperature and improves the results of the CoolSculpting® treatment.

What results are achieved through CoolSculpting®?
Typically, the CoolSculpting® treatment results in a 20-25% loss in fat in the target area. After the initial treatment has been completed, patients can return for additional procedures to lose more fat. The treatment can be repeated as soon as eight weeks after the initial procedure if the patient requires further reduction.
Why do some people say CoolSculpting® is not worth the money?
First of all, as it is the case with other treatments, the results vary for each patient. There are some who classify as hyper-responders, some who respond at an average rate while others that unfortunately do not respond at all. It is understandable for a few people to be disappointed with their results, but a much larger majority are delighted with the way they look after treatment. The common reasons for negative reviews that claim the treatment is useless are not related to the treatment itself. Those reviews are given by people who have forgotten how far they have come. Every patient that visits for a post-treatment follow-up is shocked to see how much difference it has made in their appearance. Those who do not see the healthcare professional again to report their progress remain oblivious to the fact that it has actually made an impact. CoolSculpting® has the best rating amongst all the non-invasive body contouring treatments.

Who is a good candidate for CoolSculpting®?
CoolSculpting® is not a way to shed pounds. It is exclusively a body-contouring procedure that can reduce the areas of localized fat. The ideal candidate is someone who is only 30 pounds away from their target weight or anyone who wishes to reduce fat in a certain area of their body. Only the treated area is reduced in size while the rest of the body remains the same.
Why is it that CoolSculpting® only gets rid of fat but is not a treatment for weight-loss?
Fat is not of heavier weight, but it occupies a larger volume. One pound of fat is the same size as a pound of butter. When fat is reduced from a localized area, a small change in weight can make a significant difference. When the before and after CoolSculpting® photographs are looked at side-by-side, the best examples are of those who experienced little or no weight change. The weight remaining constant is proof of the fact that the results have been achieved through CoolSculpting® and not diet or exercise.
Can I start exercising after CoolSculpting®?
You can hit the gym immediately after having the procedure completed. The area that is being treated will feel a little sore for a few days afterwards, but it does not mean you cannot exercise.
What are the side-effects of CoolSculpting®?
Inflammation of the nerves in the tissue that is treated is very normal and you can expect the entire region to be desensitized for a short term. It is normal for a patient to feel a numbing sensation after the procedure has been completed which resolves itself within a few days or four weeks at most. Bruising is common and during the first two weeks post-treatment you are likely to experience tingling, deep itching, slight pain, muscle spasms, soreness, aching and mild to severe cramps. The side-effects have reduced dramatically ever since the new cooling devices have been introduced. The less common side-effects will be discussed at the clinic when you schedule a consultation session.
How many times should I have CoolSculpting® performed?
A single treatment is sufficient to produce impressive results. Most people still choose to have another round of treatments performed. People who want to debulk may need more than one session to reduce their fat bulge.
Can I achieve results similar to liposuction with CoolSculpting®?
Yes, you can and on top of that without the risk of surgery. However, it is important that you have realistic expectations of the results. A single session of this noninvasive body-sculpting technique cannot achieve as much fat as liposuction surgery can. You will have to get multiple treatments to achieve results similar to plastic surgery. CoolSculpting® costs less than liposuction so you can get multiple sessions done without putting a big dent on your pocket. Another point to be taken into consideration is that body-contouring does not have the ability to correct conditions like loose skin and only a tummy tuck can achieve that.
Is CoolSculpting® safe for people of all skin types and color?
Yes, people from all ethnicities can have CoolSculpting® performed.
What happens if a patient gains weight after the CoolSculpting® treatment?
The fat that CoolSculpting® eliminates is gone forever and most people are so motivated by their treatment results that they commit to taking better care of themselves. If someone does gain weight, then it will distribute itself evenly all over the body and will not get accumulated in a particular area where it previously used to be localized.  A patient’s results will not be as effective if they gain weight. For best results, your weight should remain around the same as it was on treatment day.
Does CoolSculpting® feel very cold to the skin?
The coldest part of the CoolSculpting® equipment is the gel pad that is applied to the skin before the cooling device is latched on to the fat. Oddly, even though the gel pad is kept at room temperature it feels very cold. It serves the purpose of protecting the skin from frostbite. The cooling device does feel cool for 5 to 10 minutes but it is not that cold. The nerves become desensitized after a maximum of 10 minutes and after that you do not feel anything at all. The two-minute message performed after the treatment is the most uncomfortable part of the entire CoolSculpting® treatment but most people find even that tolerable.
Is there an advantage of having the procedure performed with the previous models of CoolSculpting® equipment?
The CoolSculpting® technology was introduced in 2011 and since then it has evolved immensely. New machines and improved applicators have been introduced so you would be at a disadvantage if you have the treatment performed with an older version of the machines.

Meet Jeff Russell

Practice Director of Glenmore Healthcare

I’d like to personally welcome you to Glenmore Healthcare. My partner and I started Glenmore Healthcare in 2010 with a goal to bring rapid medically supervised weight loss and aesthetic procedures to Calgary. We don’t just want to be any other weight loss clinic in Calgary, we want to be the best! Glenmore Healthcare thrives on battling the war on obesity. The stress of everyday life, family and work obligations, the food giants’ focus on profits over nutritional value, the many side affects of prescribed drugs, and lack of time for our commitment to exercise have all caused many of us to succumb to extra pounds. Unfortunately, those extra pounds are often found around our abdomens, which is the most dangerous fat of all. Our focus is to eliminate that belly fat, and get our bodies back to where they were.
